This photo was on my calendar, and I thought I'd try making my own lolcat picture, so here it is:

FC Registration
Sep. 1st, 2007 | 11:45 am
I finally got around to registering for FC the other day, I'd been putting it off because I don't like parting with money =P I'm glad I waited this long though, the exchange rate is really high at the moment, so technically it cost me less! But now I'm officially going to FC and will get my own badge and everything, so yay =D

The Phantom of the Opera
Aug. 16th, 2007 | 06:24 pm
Last night I went to see The Phantom of the Opera, and it was really a good experience! I'd seen it once before when I was younger, but since I'm older now (getting too old if you ask me =P), I can understand more of the plot and so on. It's funny in parts, scary in some parts, and also really tragic and sad at the end. Anthony Warlow played the phantom, and he was great, he was totally immersed in the role.
It's fun when the phantom goes psycho and starts killing people =P. At one point he cuts down the huge chandelier and it literally drops on the audience, I wasn't quite under it but I was close enough...of course it doesn't actually fully fall on top of people, they veer it off toward the stage before it falls too far down =P It's interesting to see all the little tricks they use on stage too, such as disappearing and immediately appearing in a different spot, way up high or something. The phantom also throws some fireballs around which probably sounds more impressive than it was, but oh well =P.
The songs and singing and stage layouts were also done really well too. It was great to go to, at first I wasn't largely keen on the idea, but I ended up enjoying it a lot, anyone in Melbourne should definitely go see it ;)
We also saw Max Walker there (Australian cricketer and TV commentator/personality etc), so it was good to see someone off TV =P

Back at uni
Jul. 25th, 2007 | 07:20 pm
Well I've been back at uni for 3 days now and I'm already sick of it =P (not really).
Luckily, in the first week we don't have any tutorials or lab classes, so I just have to go to lectures, which makes it pretty laid back overall. I'm not sure what to think of my subjects so far, but they'll probably be hard as always. My timetable isn't too bad I guess, on tuesdays and fridays I only have one lecture, so technically I can almost think of those as days off. It's slightly strange though, because it takes me roughly an hour to get to uni, and an hour to get home again...so it's ~2 hours of travelling for a 50 minute class - not to mention $5 for a train ticket =P. But since I'm so dedicated, I can deal with that...for the first week anyway =P. Conveniently the lectures on tuesday are recorded anyway, so I don't really have to go in for those. The friday lecture is for a very hard subject, so I'll make sure to attend those.
It seems I have a lot of work ahead of me with assignments this semester as well...here's hoping I'm not overly lazy =P. I just have to keep telling myself "only X more weeks to go!"...I get a 2 week break after week 8, and classes finish in week 12, so in the grand scheme of things, it's not very long, and I'll be on the plane with my mate going to FC before I know it =)

I finally have a LiveJournal!
Jul. 24th, 2007 | 09:04 pm
Well I've finally finished setting up my journal after procrastinating on it for a long time =P. It was quite hard for me to decide on a layout that I was happy with, and even now I'm still not fully content with this one, but it's not too bad. I spent a long time tweaking the colours and such, trying to keep it from getting too similar to
taubu_lion's, although it did turn out kind of the same. I'll just say I'm glad I'm not a web designer, choosing colours and layouts isn't very easy for me! =P
I'd just like to say thanks again to
arakaraath for drawing the picture I've used in my avatar here, I really like it. Also I should mention Taubu coloured it for me (properly)...I had a go at it, and it looked pretty lame =P.
I'm not sure how often I'll make updates, but I'll try to remember that I should write something occassionally. I probably won't have a whole heap to write about, but we'll see what comes up.
